DarkRyda's BF1942 Map Pack

The map pack contains six maps in total: five for the original game and one for the Secret Weapons Expansion Pack. Four of the maps support co-op and single player modes.
Where you can play these maps
DarkRyda and TenaciousMojo occasionally run servers for these maps. We are considering setting aside time on the TPU server to play some or all of them. They are unlikely to be added to the regular rotation, since they must be downloaded to client machines before they can be played and that is not quite in keeping with the goals of the server (maps are modded but the changed maps don't require downloading to play). DarkRyda and TenciousMojo will offer to serve them occasionally from within a TPU session or in response to requests. We may also set up an announcement system on http://jdrgaming.com for upcoming server sessions hosted elsewhere by DarkRyda or others.

About the maps
According to DarkRyda, most players won't have seen these maps before. The four co-op maps were selected from the many, many available by Ryda and Mojo. They then proceeded to mod them in a variety of interesting ways (with the exception of the Groenland map, which they hardly touched). The classic TPU touches were applied, with tweaks to tank, plane and other spawns rates. As with the TPU maps, walking is rare and your ride is always waiting for you. Ryda and Mojo also changed trees, buildings, vehicles and the landscape, and fixed a lot of bugs.
Two of the maps are conquest only (no co-op): Urban Classic and The Race Track. These maps were created by DarkRyda and are just for fun. Urban Classic is designed for human vs. human street fighting. The Race Track is a crazy map with flying bridges and aircraft carriers embedded in the landscape, and is great for stunts. Lots of vehicles and planes available, bridges and tunnels to fly under and through, jumps and much more.

Caribbean Inferno: a co-op map for the original BF1942, consists of an island, initially controlled by the Japanese. The Americans have several ships and a carrier from which to launch assaults on the island. The main Axis base cannot be taken. The island's layout is a mixture of jungle, high elevation changes and bridges. It includes a full stock of tanks and planes, plus PT boats.
Faid Pass: a co-op map for the original BF1942, this is a large desert map. A similar version is also found in Battlegroup42. There are three control points. Both the Germans and the Americans have a main base that cannot be taken. Both sides fight for control of the three flags between the main bases. This is a tank map like El Alamein, with B17s. DarkRyda painted the roads so people don't get lost.
El Rajhi Pass: a co-op map for the original BF1942. This is a small canyon map. There are seven flags, all takeable. Both sides start with a main base and must fight through a narrow pass to control as many flags as possible. DarkRyda added airfields to both sides and a road that goes over the pass linking the airfields. Includes a full stock of American and German tanks and planes. DarkRyda also gave this map a brand new paint job.
SW_Groenland: a co-op map for the BF1942 Secret Weapons mod. This is a large, snowy map, with large elevation changes and bridges. Added units included flak tanks, tanks with missile turrets, German helicopters and planes with missiles. Skins were added to tanks to make them appear to be covered in snow; new skins were added for guns to make them look old, used and blood splattered. Also: jet packs. Lots of fun!
Urban Classic: This is a conquest-only map constructed entirely by DarkRyda. It is basically Berlin, Stalingrad and Liberation of Caen mashed together into one big city. All the streets line up and some buildings have been moved. Bare areas have been filled by adding buildings, water or trees. There are seven flags - some in the same places as in the original maps. More train cars were added to the Stalingrad railyard, and more smoke was added to blown out buildings. Many MGs, cars and APCs. No tanks or planes. All health lockers and ammo crates are located in the same spots as in the original maps. If you know your way around Berlin/Stalingrad/Caen, you know your way around this map.
The Race Track: a conquest-only stunt map created by DarkRyda. Tested with Joe Nitro and TenaciousMojo. This is a giant map, with miles of roads and bridges, many flags and hundreds of vehicle spawning locations. It includes jumps, tunnels, underground cities, rivers, lakes, mountains, canyons, cities, railroads and airports. It also includes all five cars, all three APCs, and every tank and plane in Battlefield 1942.
And now a message from DarkRyda...
me and mojo have gone thru hundreds of maps. most suck really bad, some are layed out nice but the bot AI is whack. anyway... out of many maps out there we have taking a few and called them "playable" we have collected about 10 desent maps over the years, and have experimented with every idea we can think of. to this date we have been the only ones with these maps and really want others to have them aswell. also when everyone has them we can all get together and play them online.
at this time we have taking 4 coop maps. touched them up a bit, got rid of any bugs we found, added things we felt the map needed. since these 4 maps are maps we found online, others out there may already have these maps. if you do already have a version of any of these maps i suggest getting these updated versions. im not in the habbit of making a map worse, the maps now playing on the tpu server would prove that.
you will be able to play carribean inferno, el rajhi pass, and faid pass in single player. they are already set up like the tpu server, as all vehicles spawn quickly. and the SW_Groenland is a secrets weapons map, u will have to activate secret weapons first to play this one in single player, as any other secret weapons map.
as for the 2 conquest only maps. the race track and urban classic. u will only be able to play these maps online, and no bots, sorry. but i promise they rank right up there with other conquest only maps. me and/or mojo will be happy to set up times to play these maps when everyone gets them and wants to play around.

we also have other coop maps, and if these maps go over well, maybe we can see more in the future?? who knows what tpu can come up with.
