Jeff, man that bites! I have handled a lot of these cases before and in Cali 90% you will not see it again thank God you do not live in southern Cali. But sounds like someone has been wanting that year and make so you have been targeted for some time and you did say that this vehicle is rare for the yr and make. Sometimes we find that some rather steal a car of a same mo to gut it"not a chop shop" but a long the line of a parts car. If someone knew it ran great then yes it is a maybe. But could just be kids having some tasteless fun. But for someone to ask about it and not to long later be gone? Yeah over in socali honda accords from 1992 to 2000 and late 90s chevy impalas have been stolen and used as a parts car and usually after the vehicle has been torn down we find the rest in a field burned. I hope and pray you will get it back. But if you see a 1988 Toyota MR2 driving around that is not yours"under the hood maybe" could be.
